Verdeterre In Action

Project Profiles

2020 Construction Season

This was Verdeterre’s first project for SOCWA (Southeastern Oakland County Water Authority) and was primarily a water main pipe project that included bursting just over a mile of existing cast iron water main with 16” HDPE, replacing 1,000 feet of cast iron water main with open cut ductile iron, and the installation of a new pressure reducing valve complete with new enclosure and electrical. The bulk of the work was completed in the winter and required two Verdeterre pipe crews on site for the duration.

Southfield Section 25 is Verdeterre’s largest project to date. This $5.6M dollar contract for Southfield consists of a full infrastructure and road replacement program. As part of this program our team replaced over a mile of sanitary sewer, water main, storm sewer and concrete roadway. This project was the company’s first post-Covid project in 2020 and was substantially completed in December of the same year.

950 Greene Street is Verdeterre’s first project in downtown Ann Arbor in several years. This incredibly tight site provided staging and logistic issues for all subcontractors. The bulk of this project was excavating the 25,000 yards required to construct the underground multi-level parking structure and installation of the stormwater detention system. Stormwater for this site is stored beneath both the building and parking structure in a Stormtank buried detention system.

Our return to work for Lincoln Consolidate Schools last year was for the construction of what we believe is the first indoor high school football field in Washtenaw County. Four new baseball and softball fields were also built as part of this athletic venue improvement project. Verdeterre handled all site development aspects for the indoor facility as well as the development of the outdoor venues.

Gallery Pointe Condominiums is our first project for Wexford Homes in Saline. This 15 acre development includes all new utilities, sitework, aggregate base, concrete curb and gutters, asphalt paving and substantial MDOT improvements to the US-12 highway along the length of the site. This site was host to our first school field trip where we brought in 4th and 5thgraders from Summers Knoll in Ann Arbor to see firsthand how site stormwater pipe is installed.

High Point High School in Scio Twp. is a $1.8M sitework contract Verdeterre has with the Washtenaw County ISD. This new high school is being built on the site of the original school and integrates some of the original building into the new construction. The schools original pool is being renovated and kept as part of the new building. This site was low and required a significant amount of imported engineered fill. Verdeterre was fortunate to have just enough from previous projects to bring this site up to grade.

The 13 Mile Road project was a job our team subcontracted from Ajax Paving Industries. Ajax was the prime contractor for this MDOT project and Verdeterre provided the soil erosion control measures, site demolition, earthwork, aggregate base and storm sewer. This typical road re-construction project was completed in two phases during the summer of 2020.

Past Projects

This project consists of a new Visitors Center building and a new Administration Building at the historic Edsel and Eleanor Ford House, along with associated parking and walking trails, located on beautiful Lake St Clair. This is Verdeterre’s first project for Frank Rewold and Sons and our first for the Ford House.

The project consists of 19 apartment buildings in addition to a clubhouse and pool area. Verdeterre performed tree removal, soil erosion installation, site and utility demolition, earthwork including all basement excavation and backfill activities, radon piping systems and all site utilities. This is a HUD financed affordable housing apartment project on the site of the former Mark Twain Elementary School in Royal Oak.

Atto Construction is a longtime client for Verdeterre, but this project presented some logistical challenges; mainly moving equipment and housing field team members. Verdeterre performed all earthwork and utility installation for the new 5-story hotel being constructed just off of the I-75 exit ramp to Bowling Green.

The project required a significant amount of soil remediation due to perched groundwater and the poor soil characteristics of the existing clay and silt. Lime stabilizing was used to provide a stable base to place the 25,000-ton of imported sand required. This project also included a quarter mile of 28 feet deep 24” diameter RCP sanitary and a duplex stormwater pump station. This was Verdeterre’s first project for O’Brien Construction.

Performed all site demolition, tree removal, earthwork, aggregate base installation, site utility installation and restoration for a new high school. The new school will be constructed at the site of the existing school. Students will continue to attend classes in the existing school until the new classroom wing was opened in 2011. The base contract for Verdeterre is $3.5 million and was completed in 2013.

Verdeterre has performed all site prep and utility installation for new charter schools in Canton, Taylor, Detroit, and at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. Verdeterre also provided landscaping, fencing and site concrete work on select schools.

Verdeterre was the general contractor on the site and performed over 80% of the work constructing twelve new baseball fields on twenty-five acres. Major subcontractors included Nationwide Fence, Raupp Landscaping and GM and Sons Concrete.

Constructed 12,500 lf of new water main via directional drill method. Approximately 7,500 lf of fusible PVC and 5,000 lf of TR Flex Ductile Iron pipe. Verdeterre was the prime contractor on both projects.

Verdeterre has completed several drain rehabilitation projects. These projects have included tree removal, excavation, bypass pumping, gabion installation, rip rap installation, step pool and cross vane construction, choir fiber log placement and full site restoration.

Constructed nearly seven miles of new water main via directional drilling. Replace 600 existing water services, seventy gate valves in wells and seventy hydrants. Base contract for the entire project is just under four million dollars and was completed in 2010.
Verdeterre has provided sitework services on several new ground-up facilities in Southeastern Michigan built by the Douglas Company out of Holland Ohio for Wellbridge. New projects include facilities in Fenton, Pinckney, Clarkston and Grand Blanc. Verdeterre was responsible for all aspects of site development on most of these projects.
Verdeterre provided site development services for Stonecrest’s Troy and Rochester Hills facilities, including site clearing, site surveying and soil testing.
